As we had talked about it in the article what are the symptoms of puppy teething?, the most obvious sign of puppy teething is excessive chewing. Your puppy will just chew on anything that its mouth can get on. The chewing is a way of relieving the sore and pain caused by the eruption of teeth. Therefore, quality care must be given to your puppy.
First of all, if you had a puppy as your pet, you need to accept the fact that some form of chewing must be allowed for your puppy. Sometimes your puppy may chew to a certain degree which is not necessary caused by teething. It’s a way of your puppy to relieve boredom and a form of playing. When your puppy is growing up, just like our baby, they are curious about the environment and the surrounding area where they live. Therefore, puppy will chew as a way of exploring the world that your puppy is fascinated with. But you as a pet owner must control your puppy to avoid excessive chewing and the chewing must be directed in positive way so that your puppy can live harmoniously with your family.
Controlling your puppy in terms of what to chew is an easy task. You can get teething and chewing toys for your puppy from the pet stores. Make sure these items are safe and not something your puppy can choke on. Good choices may include rawhide chewies (the crumbly kind; not the leathery kind), toys that can be filled with treats, and rope toys. You may even wet and freeze rope toys, or even a carrot, to help relieve sore teething gums. Rotate the toys so that your puppy doesn’t become bored. If you catch him chewing on your shoes or the tv remote, give him a stern ‘no’ and replace it with one of his chew toys.
